Annual awards bestowed on four


Three members and an industry collective improving the lives of horses in transition were honored during the Dec. 10 President’s Luncheon:

Foundation scholarships exceed $360,000


Four recent graduates and 13 students shared in scholar- ship awards of $366,000 through the generosity of four of The Foundation for the Horse’s scholarship partners: Coyote Rock Ranch, Merck Animal Health, Oakwood Foundation Charitable Trust and Zoetis.


Promising researchers receive fellows


Colorado State University Ph.D. students Dr. Lynn Pezzanite and Dr. Sherry Johnson were recognized for exceptional equine research contributions.


Dr. Pezzanite received the AAEP Past Presidents’ Research Fellow for her exploration of new methods to treat multi-drug resistant infections. Meanwhile, Dr. Johnson received the EQUUS Foundation Research Fellow for her research into new approaches to tendon injury rehabilita- tion in horses. Respectively, the $5,000 fellows are supported by monetary contributions from AAEP past presidents and in partnership between The Foundation for the Horse and the EQUUS Foundation.


Foundation gifts reach $77,000 Between the Collegiate Challenge, Vet Story Night, My Mentor giving and contributions at The Foundation for the Horse booth in the trade show, $77,000 was raised for the welfare of horses.
