horse rather than a broodmare, a partial or complete ovariohysterectomy via flank laparotomy could potentially have been performed. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first described case
of a metallic foreign body lodging in the reproductive tract of a horse, leading to abscessation of the ovary.
