foundationforthehorse.org. Nominate a hero horse doctor during summer ‘Good Works’ campaign

Whether volunteering services at an equine rescue facility, responding to a natural disaster that imperils horses, assisting law enforcement with cases of abuse and neglect, or through other endeavors, AAEP members are making a difference beyond their daily practice responsibilities. The AAEP’s Good Works for Horses campaign, sponsored by Educational Partner Zoetis, will recognize horse doctors whose volunteer efforts are having a positive effect on the lives of horses and those who care for them.

Practitioners, horse owners and others are invited to nominate AAEP-member veterinarians whose selfless acts of service are benefiting horses and the equine community. Nominations can be made online until Aug. 31 at aaep.org/good-works-for-horses.

Three veterinarians will be selected for recognition each month, June through August, in a Win-Place-Show order. Monthly honorees and their nominators will be acknowledged across AAEP’s media platforms, and each month’s winner will receive a prize package from AAEP and Zoetis. A grand prize winner will be selected from among the three monthly “Win” honorees and announced Dec. 8 during the AAEP’s 70th Annual Convention in Orlando, Fla.

Navigating the changing infectious disease landscape among July Round Tables

Each month features one clinical and one non-clinical session. Following is the tentative schedule of upcoming sessions:

June 26 – Internship Subcommittee: New Internship Hub July 10 – The Effect of Climate Change on Infectious Disease

Discover how changes in climate are enabling infectious diseases to spread to new areas and hear the latest on employing non-licensed foreign veterinary graduates legally in the U.S. by tuning into the AAEP’s Virtual Wednesday Round Tables in July.

The Virtual Round Tables are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month, March–October. The 90-minute sessions are similar to convention Table Topics and are free for AAEP members. To attend a live session, simply register in advance through the “AAEP Webinars” section of AAEP Anywhere at learn.aaep.org or by clicking the link in the biweekly Spur e-newsletter or the dedicated email that arrives a week before the session.

July 24 – Foreign Veterinary Graduates Task Force

Recordings of past sessions are available on-demand through AAEP Anywhere, the association’s free-to-member online learning platform. On-demand sessions are available approximately 48 hours following the live sessions and include mentioned resources such as PowerPoint slides, images and more.
